Auction brio llc. had made a suggestion to start the live auction with a surprise auction package. Using my broadcasting background, I instructed the Master of Ceremony to tell the guests that we have "Breaking News" and "This Just In". We had full attention to the stage where he read the description of the surprise package. All eyes shifted to me and I was out of the gates with a $5,000 bid, 4-paddles rose then $6,000 then $7,000, then $8,000 and it continued. The crowd roared when the bidding soared past $10,000 dollars! Eva's Heroes founder, actress Eva Longoria on stage with me as the bidding went higher!!
I won't mention the sold price but it wildly exceeded expectations. I appreciate Eva's Heroes accepting Auction brio's ideas to create value to their live auction. It really paid for them.
We were off to a record breaking live auction!
Following the live auction we introduced the Fund-a-Hero. After Eva and her co-founder spoke about the organization and programs that Eva's Heroes provides for over 1,8000 young adults, we began the Special Appeal and paddles went into the air! Guests gave generously even accepting a challenge by a donor to match his large donation. This Fund-a-Hero auction raised more money on that night, than it had in 6 previous years!
I am proud to have been the exclusive benefit auctioneer for Eva's Heroes Celebrity Casino Night Gala & Auction. Because of the record generosity of guests, many young adults facing intellectual special needs will continue to integrate and flourish in San Antonio.
